Description

1919 Half Dollar, MS66
Second-Rarest Philadelphia Issue

1919 50C MS66 PCGS Secure. CAC. Ex: Schultz-Duckor. With its mintage of 952,000 coins, the 1919 Philadelphia Walking Liberty half dollar stands as the second-rarest issue from that facility after the 1921. The 1919 was saved to a greater extent than its branch mint counterparts but still has an average certified grade that just barely exceeds XF40. Mint State examples are scarce and very rarely seen finer than MS65.

This Premium Gem is decidedly sharp on Liberty's head and branch hand. Frosted, minimally marked surfaces yield glints of golden patina with an arc of multicolor toning along the right obverse border. Eye appeal is excellent. Population: 23 in 66, 5 finer. CAC: 30% of submissions for this issue/grade passed. 7 in 66, 5 finer (11/17).
