Description

1895-S Five Dollar, MS64
A Major Rarity This Fine

1895-S $5 MS64 PCGS. Uncirculated examples of the 1895-S half eagle are rare in all grades, especially in MS64 or finer. This near-Gem displays a sharp strike and softly frosted luster. Original honey-gold surfaces reveal no major abrasions. The six finest examples of the 1895-S reported by the grading services are two MS64s and two MS66s at PCGS, plus an MS65 and another MS66 at NGC (11/17); some duplication may exist in the figures.
