Description

1861-O Half Dollar, XF40
C.S.A. Die-Cracked Obverse, FS-401

1861-O 50C CSA Obverse, WB-102, FS-401, Die Pair 11, R.3, XF40 PCGS. CAC. Walnut-brown and blue-green toning blankets this moderately marked half dollar. The vertical die crack up from Liberty's nose is identical to that seen on the four genuine Confederate half dollars, since that issue and Die Pair 11 share the same obverse die. FS-401 has long been in demand from Seated specialists, as an affordable substitute for the non-collectible C.S.A. halves.
