Description

1878 $10 MS62 PCGS. The Philadelphia Mint increased gold coinage production in 1878, in part to support an anticipated redemption of paper money and silver coinage at face value, but that demand never materialized. This is a splendid, lustrous eagle for the assigned grade, with minimal marks and radiant orange-gold color. The strike is razor-sharp. Population: 54 in 62 (3 in 62+), 19 finer (2/18).(Registry values: N1793)
