This exceptional Jewish War shekel is housed in a sterling silver presentation box, with blue velvet interior, with an engraved inscription in Hebrew and Spanish noting that the coin is a gift from the President of Israel, Izhak Ben-Zvi, to the "most esteemed" President of the Republic of El Salvador, Colonel Jose Maria Lemus, presented "with much affection" during the latter's visit to Jerusalem in October, 1957. Izhak Ben-Zvi was president of Israel from 1952 to 1963 and is regarded as one of the modern nation's Founding Fathers. Jose Maria Lemus served as president of El Salvador from 1956 to 1960, The coin is beautifully toned and Extremely Fine; the finely crafted case is a bit tarnished and has light handling marks, but otherwise in exceptional condition, with an immaculate interior.
