Description:
Appealing MS63 1905-O Micro O Dime
1905-O 10C Micro O MS63 NGC. A couple of error and die variety issues in the Barber dime series have captivated the attention of Barber dime collectors--notably the 1893/2 overdate and the present 1905-O Micro O--leading to unprecedented demand. David Lawrence's reference on the series speculates that the variety was created through the use of a mintmark punch intended for Barber quarters. This piece, one of the finest certified, offers largely brilliant fields with some light chatter. Even though a couple of light pinscrapes are noted on Liberty's cheek under a loupe, this piece is appealing and likely unimprovable without huge doses of both patience and luck. The mintmark has a distinctly oval shape, unlike the round O on normal coins, and the sides are quite thick. Census: 1 in 63, 3 finer (4/07).
