Description:
Superb 1905-O Barber Dime, The Cataloger's Choice
1905-O 10C MS67 PCGS. This is the cataloger's choice for the prettiest Barber Dime in this collection. Both sides are virtually perfect beneath gorgeous lilac and bright green toning, with additional rose color on the reverse. The underlying surfaces have amazing frosty luster. As usual, slight merging of the hair details over the forehead is noted, however, the reverse is exceptionally well defined with full leaf details in the wreath. It is rather surprising to us that PCGS has actually certified five examples of this date in MS67 grade, unless part of that figure represents resubmission of fewer coins. This date is 40th in the ranking of Mint State Barber Dimes certified by PCGS. The rather substantial number of certified Mint State specimens may serve to diminish the potential of this coin at the auction. If that happens, it should prove to be an outstanding value. Population: 5 in 67, 0 finer (11/05).
