Description

Originally Toned 1900-S Barber Quarter, MS65 NGC

1900-S 25C MS65 NGC. Type One Obverse / Type Two Reverse. This coin was previously offered as lot 6957 in our January 2001 sale of the Glenn J. Church Collection, where it was cataloged as: "Like the 1898-S and 1899-S, the 1900-S was placed into circulation in the Philippines as well as in the western United States. Since few coins were preserved in either locale, it is little wonder that the present Gem represents a fleeting opportunity for students of this turn-of-the-century quarter series. The surfaces are bathed in satin luster over which are intermingled swirls of olive, powder-blue, and champagne-apricot colors. There is not a single flatly struck device, nor are there any abrasions that would seem to preclude an even higher grade." Population: 2 in 65, 7 finer (7/02).
From the John Adams Collection. (NGC ID# 23YM, PCGS# 5627)

I received the catalog and was very impressed with its color illustrations, descriptions and attractive layout. (It has better production values than the New York houses.)
