Description:
1871 Trade Dollar, Judd-1315, Pollock-1458, R.4, PR 65 NGC. The Bailly design for the Trade dollar that depicts Liberty seated on the obverse, left hand resting on a globe, right hand clutching a pole with a Phrygian cap atop, surrounded by agricultural produce. The reverse has a small eagle in the center with most of the statutory requirements placed on that side. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. Both sides are deeply toned in mottled steel-blue and orange shades, along with a deceptively lighter gray-violet patina, all tending to subdue the underlying proof brilliance. (PCGS# 61315)
