1914-S 5C MS67 NGC....
Star-Designated 1914-S Nickel, MS671914-S 5C MS67 NGC. While not as widely regarded as a semi-key date as its Denver counterpart, the 1914-D is primarily a scarcity in circulated condition. In the upper reaches of Mint State the 1914-S is significantly rarer. In fact, only two other pieces have been certified MS67 by NGC with one finer, and none have been so graded by PCGS (5/08). The Star designation certainly applies to this coin, and the extraordinary eye appeal is the first thing one notices when viewing this Buffalo nickel. Much of the eye appeal is derived from the rich lilac centers on each side that are surrounded with deep rose color at the margins. This superb toning is enlivened by the thick mint luster. The striking definition is also strong, and there are no mentionable or noticeable abrasions on either side. An outstanding coin.
