Rare XF 1918/7-D Nickel1918/7-D 5C XF40 PCGS. CAC. FS-101. The upper right corner of the 7 is obvious, as is the thickness of the crossbar and downstroke. Presumably, the same mint worker was also responsible for the 1918/7-S quarter, also caused when a working die was made from working hubs with two different dates. The present key date nickel has dove-gray toning and an absence of visible marks.(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 22RJ, PCGS# 3939)
