Description:
Lightly Toned 1925-S Nickel, MS64+
1925-S 5C MS64+ PCGS. CAC. The 1925-S issue is among a small herd of S-mint Buffalos that are quite elusive at the Gem level, a group that also includes the 1921-S, 1923-S, and 1924-S. The usual problems are eroded dies, weak strikes, and poor planchet quality -- frequently seen in combinations -- that preclude a Gem grade. This near-Gem is struck from dies that are mildly fatigued, a bit more so on the reverse, but still having delivered a decent strike. The few marks on either side and light pastel blue and pink patina contribute to the good eye appeal. Population: 3 in 64+, 25 finer (2/13).(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 22S4, PCGS# 3956)
