Description:
1825 JR-1 Dime, MS65+
Possibly the Finest JR-1 Dime
1825 10C MS65+ NGC. JR-1, R.4. The A in STATES is boldly doubled to the left on this reverse that is shared with JR-3. The left edge of the curl is over the center of the 5 on JR-1, and over the right side of the 2 on JR-3. The emission sequence for 1825 dimes appears to be JR-1, JR-2, JR-3, JR-1 (again), JR-4, and JR-5. The early die state of this piece suggests that it was part of the first group of 1825 dimes coined early in the year.
This impressive Gem is one of about a dozen similar examples for all 1825 dime varieties combined. The border details are indistinct, but the central design motifs are bold. Both sides have frosty luster beneath lovely gold and iridescent toning. Census: 8 in 65 (1 in 65+), 2 finer (4/12), for all 1825 varieties.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 2374, PCGS# 4503)
