Description:
1830 MS 65 NGC. JR-4, R.2. One of the two overdate varieties for 1830, but the underdigits are weakly defined and the overdate is not recognized as such by NGC. Very possibly the finest known example of this variety, and far superior to the Lovejoy specimen (Stack's, 10/90) which was only graded "Brilliant Uncirculated." This piece has a semi-reflective quality in the fields and is well brought up in most areas. Much brilliance is still in evidence with just the slightest overlay of pale rose patina. Population: 2 in 65, only 1 finer. (NGC ID# 2379, PCGS# 4516)
