Description

Attractively Toned MS65 1828 Quarter, B-1a

1828 25C MS65 NGC. B-1a, R.1. Toned with mottled deep green and gold on the lower two-thirds of the obverse, with the upper portions a light steel-gray color. Matched on the reverse where the lower portion is lighter, and the tonight ranges through deep blue, green, and russet with luster through the peripheral lettering. Sharp on all but the uppermost curls of Liberty, and all the stars show full radial lines to the centers. A very scarce coin in Gem condition, with just a handful seen that qualify at this level and just a single coin graded higher by the two major services. A coin for the type collector who demands excellent surfaces and attractive toning. Census: 3 in 65, 1 finer (11/08).
