Description:
Choice VF 1834 Crosslet 4 Classic Five
1834 $5 Crosslet 4 VF35 NGC. Second Head, Breen-6503, McCloskey 5-D, R.4. From a single die pair, the Crosslet 4 is the scarcest Guide Book variety of Philadelphia Mint Classic Half Eagles, and is much more desirable than its relatively common Plain 4 counterpart. Liberty's hair and the eagle's wingtips exhibit wear appropriate for the grade. The orange and straw-gold surfaces are only lightly abraded and retain noticeable glimpses of luster.(Registry values: P3) (PCGS# 8172)
