The sparkling Premium Gem representative offered here is very well struck for a Classic quarter eagle, with complete plumage on the eagle and good definition on Liberty's hair curls. The noticeably striated fields are bright and reflective with a "halo" of frost about the portrait that is reminiscent of a few Morgan dollar issues produced at the Carson City mint. There are only the slightest abrasions on either side, one in the field out from the eagle's beak that we mention solely as a point of reference. Quite a bit of care was obviously taken in producing most Mint State examples, as it not unheard of for a survivor to possess prooflike qualities. NGC has certified six pieces with the prooflike designation, with this extraordinary MS66 being the finest (11/05). (PCGS# 77692)
