Description:
Scarce Uncirculated 1836 Classic Head
Quarter Eagle
, Second Head of 1837
1836 $2 1/2 Block 8 MS61 NGC. CAC. Second Head of 1837, Breen-6144, Variety-15, R.2.
This design type is seldom found in mint condition, and when located examples are worthy of consideration. This piece displays better-than-average striking details on the eagle's plumage, but the hair curls around Liberty's face show the usual softness. The slight reddish-gold surfaces are lightly abraded, the only mentionable mark located above and to the right of the eagle's head.(Registry values: P1) (PCGS# 97694)
