Description:
1839-D $2 1/2 Genuine PCGS. Variety 1-A, McCloskey-A, R.3. The PCGS number ending in .82 suggests Filed Rims as the reason, or perhaps one of the reasons, that PCGS deemed this coin not gradable. In our opinion, this coin has the details of a VF specimen with filed rims that has been cleaned. This low mintage Dahlonega Classic quarter eagle is unduly bright from polishing, has a wandering faint pinscratch near the right side of the portrait, and displays light file marks where the encapsulation allows viewing, most notably at 10 o'clock on the obverse.(Registry values: P4, N4) (NGC ID# 25G6, PCGS# 7700)
