Description:
1880 MS Hawaii Wailuku Plantation 1 Real Token XF40 NGC. According to Donald Medcalf and Ronald Russell in their 1991 reference Hawaiian Money, The First Wailuku Sugar Co. employed 160 men and produced 1,600 tons of cane sugar in 1880. 1 Real and Half Real tokens were issued to laborers, these were struck from copper by a plantation blacksmith. This medium brown piece has a clear design and is moderately pitted. Listed on page 324 of the 2005 Guide Book. (PCGS# 10997)
