Choice AU American Plantations Restrike
(1688) TOKEN American Plantations Token AU55 PCGS. Breen-78, Newman 4-E. The circa 1828 restrike, but with no sign of the die break often encountered in the upper left obverse. Newman recorded two different varieties as restrikes, including this 4-E combination and also his 5-D die pairing, the latter with the characteristic die break associated with the restrikes. Luster glows from the legends and shield. The surfaces display moderate to heavy corrosion at 2:30 on the obverse and from 3 to 6 o'clock on the reverse. Struck from rusted dies. Listed on page 39 of the 2006 Guide Book.
