Description

Challenging AU 1652 Oak Tree Sixpence

1652 6PENCE Oak Tree Sixpence AU50 PCGS. Noe-21, R.5. This scarce variety is characterized by the first S lacking its top and having been cut into the die backward. The W in NEW on the reverse is wide. This example is evenly struck and has light olive-silver toning. Unlike most Boston Mint coinage, the present piece is not wavy. Struck moderately off center toward 2 o'clock, taking a few upper right obverse letters partly off the flan. Each side has only wispy marks that are invisible without the aid of a loupe. Listed on page 37 of the 2008 Guide Book. Population: 3 in 50, 6 finer (1/08).
Ex: Central States Signature (Heritage, 5/05), lot 5001. (NGC ID# 2ARJ, PCGS# 19)

The outcome of the auction far exceeded my best hopes and would not likely have been as successful with out your sound advice on where to present the coin and how best to set the reserve. Throughout the process your availability , support and knowledge were exceptional.
