Description:
1739-D SOU M French Colonies Sou Marque XF45 PCGS. Breen-450, "Very rare." Richly toned in competing olive and lavender-brown colors. Careful study of the obverse field reveals wispy abrasions concealed by subsequent patina. The third digit of the date is distorted due to the open collar strike, but the date is 1739-D since the Lyon mint only struck the type between 1739 and 1742. Listed on page 37 of the 2005 Guide Book. (PCGS# 158607)
