Description:
Impressive 1776 continental Dollar, E. G. Fecit Variety
1776 $1 Continental Dollar, CURRENCY, Pewter, EG FECIT XF45 NGC. Newman 3-D, Hodder 3-B, R.3. Medium steel gray in color with slightly darker fields which offset the devices. This coin is sharply struck by the dies, and is an early die state before the reverse die crack advanced. Scattered handling marks are found with a loupe, but none are problematic. Identifiable by a minor nick at the top of the post of the 1 in the date. No tin pesting problems as often found, and this coin should find favor with any collector who appreciates the ample symbology and finer than average quality. Listed on page 39 of the 2005 Guide Book. (#795) (PCGS# 795)
