Rare Uncirculated Rhode Island Ship Token1778-1779 TOKEN Rhode Island Ship Token, Wreath Below, Copper MS62 Brown PCGS. Breen-1141, Betts-563. A satirical piece initially intended for a Dutch audience, which mocks both the American militia and the British Admiral Howe for having to abandon Newport in 1778-79. Betts-563 is the final entry in the series, the word VLUGTENDE replaced on the die with a wreath. A well struck example, mostly deep chocolate-brown in color with lighter olive hues within and outlining the devices. A few old pinscratches are concealed to the right of Rhode Island. Listed on Page 35 of the 2005 Guide Book. Population: 3 in 62, 0 finer (6/05).
