1783 1C Washington & Independence Cent, Draped Bust, Copper Restrike, Engrailed Edge PR66 Red and Brown PCGS. Baker-3. Rulau and Fuld attribute these restrikes of the 1783 issue to London dealer W.S. Lincoln in 1860. However, Breen asserts that they were made by leading mid-19th century Birmingham medallist W.J. Taylor. Rich portions of original mint luster still adhere to the outer devices with smooth brown patina covering the reflective fields. A thoroughly delightful proof specimen. Listed on page 58 of the 2002 Guide Book. (PCGS# 686)
