Description

Conditionally Challenging Chalmers Short Worm Shilling, AU55

1783 SHLNG Chalmers Shilling, Short Worm AU55 PCGS. Breen-1011. Although much more common than the Large Worm (Breen-1012), this variety is still a legitimate rarity in the U.S. Colonial series. We have not offered many Chalmers shillings whose aesthetic appeal compares to that of this lovely Choice AU survivor. The strike is quite sharp and the overall definition is well above average for this often indifferently produced type. Both sides are slightly off-center, and there are no individually mentionable abrasions. An originally toned, light brown example with gray-lilac coloration over each side. Listed on page 30 of the current Guide Book. (NGC ID# 2AUU, PCGS# 596)
