One of the Finest Known 1785 Pointed Rays, Small Date Nova Constellatio Coppers1785 C Nova Nova Constellatio Copper, Pointed Rays, Small Date AU58 PCGS. Crosby 2-A, R.5. After 130 years, Crosby's Early Coins of America is still the standard reference for this highly collectible series of Colonial coins. This particular variety is quite scarce, with the usually seen variety for 1785 Pointed Rays the Crosby 3-B. This is the finest Small Date 1785 Nova certified by PCGS. The surfaces are glossy with gray-brown color on each side and faint portions of faded red still evident in the obverse fields. Struck on a slightly porous planchet, the only marks worthy of mention are a thin scratch in the field between the wreath and S ET on the obverse, and on the reverse there is a crack in the planchet to the left of the C in CONSTELLATIO.
