Description:
1787 1C Fugio Cent, STATES UNITED, Eight-Pointed Stars VF25 PCGS. Pointed Rays. Newman 15-Y. Eight pointed stars serve as stops on the reverse. There is a planchet chip at 10 o'clock on the reverse rim and an advanced die break appears inside the 5 o'clock link. Deep, almost charcoal-gray patina covers the fields and recesses of the coin with sharply contrasting light brown color over the devices. Breen calls this variety "scarce," while Kessler rates it an R.5 in VF. Listed on page 63 of the 2002 Guide Book. (PCGS# 898)
