1787 COPPER Nova Eborac Copper, Large Head VF25 PCGS....
Rare 1787 Nova Eborac Large Head Copper1787 COPPER Nova Eborac Copper, Large Head VF25 PCGS. Breen-985, R.6. Just 15 to 18 of these were known to Walter Breen at the time his Complete Encyclopedia was published in 1988. The actual number known today, some 17 years later, is probably approaching 30 examples. Dies were prepared by John Bailey, who was apparently associated with Ephraim Brasher. The first of the dies for the Nova Eborac Coppers, the so-called Large Head type, exhibits a poor layout. Two widely separated cinquefoils in the left obverse field force the word NOVA toward the back of the head, and EBORAC in the right field is distant from the device with a nearby cinquefoil. Dark steel and olive-brown surfaces have a few minor scratches and other imperfections. Prominent die bulges are visible in the obverse fields, especially to the right. Listed on pages 55 of the 2005 Guide Book.(#484) (PCGS# 484)
