Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Description:
1787 COPPER Vermont Copper, BRITANNIA AU50 NGC. RR-13, Bressett 17-V, R.1. Although the Britannia type is among the more available Vermont varieties, high grade pieces with strong details on the devices are rare (compare with the Guide Book plate coin). The reverse legend is always weak on this variety. The medium brown surfaces are unabraded, but have vertical mint-made planchet streaks. A small curved rim clip (as made) is noted at 9 o'clock. An impressive example of this popular muled type. Listed on page 52 of the 2004 Guide Book. (#554) (PCGS# 554)
