1788 COPPER Connecticut Copper, Draped Bust Left VF30 NGC. M. 16.1-D, W-4595, R.3. Miller's Reverse D of 1788, noted for a die crack through the I of LIB, in a late state with prominent "cuds" on the seated figure's foot and at the E of ET. Deep brown surfaces have a few small spots of darker color. The New Netherlands cataloger suggests this die pair as a Machin's Mills product, struck at Newburg(h) in New York instead of New Haven, Connecticut. Listed on page 60 of the 2011 Guide Book. MRB Fine 15.
Ex: F.C.C. Boyd; New Netherlands #60 (12/3/1968), lot 356, which realized $24.
