Description:
1788 COPPER Connecticut Copper, Mailed Bust Right--Struck on a Nova Constellatio, Corroded--ANACS. XF40 Details. M. 3-B.2, W-4415, R.6. Part of an E from the Nova undertype is visible at 3 o'clock on the obverse; otherwise, there is little evidence of the overstrike. The surfaces show the usual granularity and there are several spots of active corrosion. The color is olive-brown with bright accents over the high points from apparent rub. The striking details are generally good, but somewhat irregular at the same time with occasional areas of softness, for instance the peripheral legends and lower part of the date. Listed on page 60 of the 2011 Guide Book. MRB VF20.
Purchased from Ted L. Craige (5/25/1966) for $50.
