Description:
Extremely Rare "Godless" Elephant Token
Undated (1672-94) "Godless" Elephant Token VF 20 PCGS. Breen-186, Peck-500. Well struck with dark chocolate color. There are the normal contact marks one might expect of the grade and the obverse exhibits a few small pinpricks. This "Godless" variety (sometimes called the LON DON variety) is extremely rare in all conditions and seldom surfaces. According to Peck, these enigmatic pieces were produced in England by the Royal African Company and struck from West African copper. This infamous company enjoyed a monopoly of African trade in gold, ivory and slaves until 1697. Only two pieces have been certified in all grades by PCGS. Listed on page 25 of the 1999 Guide Book. (PCGS# 67)

Learn About Consigning With Us
What I most appreciated was how thorough you were when we initially met, how you were conservative in your estimates, not trying to get me to consign by giving false expectations, and then for delivering above and beyond on your commitment to me of a wonderful marketing campaign and a first rate catalog and photos, all of which resulted in a final total price realized that was nicely higher than what you had told me to expect.
