MS64+ 1904 Lewis and Clark Gold Dollar
Struck From Clashed Dies
1904 G$1 Lewis and Clark MS64+ PCGS. CAC. A lustrous lemon-gold near-Gem that has pleasing preservation and is well struck except for the obverse dentils. Both sides are boldly die clashed, as made and highly unusual for any gold commemorative issue. Although the Louisiana Purchase Exposition was held in St. Louis in 1904, the present type was issued for the Lewis and Clark Exposition, which took place a year later in Portland, Oregon.(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 26HC, PCGS# 7447)
