Description:
Sharp 1915-S Panama-Pacific $50 Round, AU58 PCGS
1915-S $50 Panama-Pacific 50 Dollar Round AU58 PCGS. As the only U.S. Commemorative coins of the $50 denomination, the Pan-Pac slugs of 1915 are understandably popular among specialists. These coins are also significant rarities, both from absolute and condition standpoints. With a paltry net mintage of 483 pieces (1,017 coins were melted as unsold), the round variant is rarer than the octagonal. The present example retains virtually all of the original striking definition with an overall sharp appearance. There is a little light friction with a few scattered, wispy abrasions, but the olive-gold surfaces are free of singularly mentionable distractions. A more affordable example that should have no trouble finding its way into an advanced collection. (NGC ID# 26HM, PCGS# 7451)
