Description:
Satiny and Visually Impressive MS64 Panama-Pacific Round Fifty Dollar
1915-S $50 Panama-Pacific 50 Dollar Round MS64 NGC. The Round is the scarcer of the two varieties of fifties struck this year, although it is not quite as popular as the unusual octagonal design. The design of these coins is full of symbolism, as evidenced by the explanation given on the original box of issue (sorry, not included with this lot). Stuck on the eve of America's involvement in the First World War, the Athena's helmet is pushed back on Liberty's head in a ready but not fully combative posture. The coin displays a lovely, distinctly satiny luster over a slight, matte-like surfaces. Close examination with a magnifier will reveal why this piece is not graded even higher, but to the more casual observer this massive gold coin appears to be finer than the stated grade.(#7451) (Registry values: N10218) (NGC ID# 26HM, PCGS# 7451)
