1920 Maine Half Dollar, MS67
An Important Condition Rarity

1920 50C Maine MS67 PCGS. The Maine Centennial half dollar commemorated the 100th anniversary of the state's admission to the Union in 1820. The majority of the 50,000 pieces distributed went to the general public who carelessly mishandled them. No more than 5,000 coins are thought to have been purchased by dedicated collectors; consequently, examples in higher Mint State levels are much more elusive than the fairly generous mintage would indicate. The present Superb Gem is genuinely rare. Whispers of reddish-brown gravitate to the margins, and strong luster exudes from both sides, each of which has been well cared for. The design elements are well-struck, further enhancing the coin's eye appeal. This is an excellent choice for a high-grade commemorative type set. Population: 25 in 67 (1 in 67+), 0 finer (10/13).(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# BYGY, PCGS# 9326)
