Finest NGC Certified 1797 13 Stars Dime, AU581797 10C 13 Stars AU58 NGC. JR-2, R.4. Both sides of this pleasing near-Mint example have light gray and gold color with darker steel and iridescent toning at the borders. The surfaces displays fine granularity but not other defects aside from a few grade-consistent blemishes. A fine line of planchet lamination is evident at the upper left part of the obverse. The 1797 13 Stars JR-2 dime is slightly scarcer than the 16 Stars JR-1 variety, the only other die marriage of the year. In high grade, the JR-2 variety is seen with less frequency, and this example is easily within the Condition Census for the variety, being the finest certified by NGC.
