Elusive 1804 14 Stars on Reverse Dime XF451804 10C 14 Stars on Reverse XF45 PCGS. JR-2, R.5. A lovely, well balanced example that has blushes of pale violet patina over natural gray surfaces. Traces of luster can still be found in the protected areas. An old cut in the left obverse field that crosses star 4 is of no real significance. Only 8,265 dimes were coined bearing the date 1804 and it has been estimated that about a third of those remaining have the popular 14 star reverse. Extremely Fine or finer 1804 Dimes of either variety are seldom offered, which should generate considerable interest in this uncommonly nice and legitimately elusive Draped Bust Dime. Population: 1 in 45, 0 finer (10/02). (PCGS# 4475)
