Description:
Desirable Choice 1805 Five Berries Dime
1805 10C 5 Berries MS64 PCGS. JR-1, R.3. The scarcer of the two die marriages for the date. Both varieties are separately in the Guide Book since their berry count differs. As of (8/06), the present piece is the single finest PCGS-certified 1805 5 Berries dime, although PCGS has distinguished between the two varieties only in recent years. This brilliant and nicely lustrous near-Gem has pleasantly smooth surfaces, and mint-made roller marks are limited to a few faint lines above Liberty's ear. The grade is limited only by the strike, which is soft on the shield although the remainder of the designs are crisp. The 1805 is scarce but collectible in circulated grades. Quality Mint State pieces are rare, and under voracious collector demand.
