Description

1795 B-1, BB-21 Flowing Hair Dollar
Mint Inserted Silver Plug

1795 $1 Flowing Hair, Silver Plug -- Surface Damage -- Genuine PCGS. B-1, BB-21, R.2. The PCGS number ending in .98 suggests Damage as the reason, or perhaps one of the reasons, that PCGS deemed this coin not gradable. In our opinion, this coin has the details of a VG specimen that has surface damage. both sides show mottled toning with heavy scratches and myriad pin-point ticks.
A Mint-made silver plug is clearly outlined at the center of the obverse with slight evidence on the reverse. While the B-1 die marriage is the second commonest of 1795 Flowing Hair dollars, this variety is rarely encountered with a silver plug.(Registry values: P4, N4) (PCGS# 6854)

The marketing was exceptional from the photos to the ads in Civil War Times and North South Trader for the cross over people!!! I have had many emails from my Civil War collecting fraternity that saw these and I saw them at the national show in Nashville/Franklin in early December.
