Condition Census 1799 Dollar, B-5, BB-157, MS64 NGC1799 $1 MS64 NGC. B-5, BB-157, R.2, Die State III. Ex: Eliasberg. The rising die crack through STATES and the imperfect upper left top of the U in UNITED allow rapid attribution of the variety. A delightful combination of high grade and wonderful aesthetic appeal. Delicate golden and lavender toning shows on the obverse over slightly reflective fields. The reverse is a mixture of gold, magenta, and blue. Sharply struck overall with excellent definition on Liberty's hair, the stars in the reverse field, even the eagle's wing and neck feathers. A small flat spot is noted on the obverse rim over the TY of LIBERTY, and a lateral contact mark is in the right obverse field near Liberty's chin. These are being mentioned only for future pedigree purposes as they hardly detract from the coin's overall pleasant appearance. Although not the finest known of this variety, certainly in the Condition Census for the B-5. An excellent choice for the collector who demands a high grade coin that has all the eye appeal of a Gem, without the much higher price. Census: 17 in 64, 6 finer (12/05).(Registry values: N10218) (NGC ID# 24X7, PCGS# 6878)
