Scarce 1800 B-15 Dollar, So-Called '10 Arrows' Reverse1800 $1 10 Arrows VF20 PCGS. B-15, BB-195, High R.4. Die State I. Star 1 far from curl, star 7 close to L, star 13 nearly touches bust; 10 perfect arrows with three floating arrowheads, the so-called "10 Arrows" variety. The reverse has several die flaws at the final S; otherwise the dies are perfect with no cracks or clash marks. The B-15 is a scarce variety that may actually qualify as R.5. Only about 80 examples are known, despite a much higher estimate of 250 to 450 pieces by Bowers. Although a few higher grade coins are known, most examples are similar in quality to this piece. Pewter-gray and lilac color on both sides with lighter gold toning on the devices. Each side has its share of minor surface marks with a thin scratch from star 3 to the hair ribbon and hair strands toward the ear.
