Middle Die State 1800 B-8, BB-188 Draped Bust Dollar1800 $1 Normal Dies. B-8, BB-188, R.3. VF30 NGC. Die dot inside lower part of R, near upright; Stars 4, 5, 6 do not touch clouds, cloud space below crossbar of E. Reiver die state a. Bowers-Borckardt die state III. This is the Reiver plate coin for the reverse of this variety in his book. Light silver and attractive for the grade, with several small areas of surface roughness on the reverse. The strike is decent on the obverse, with strong dentils as usually seen, but weak at the central reverse on the vertical shield lines and this may have been done to hide some scratches in that area. Minor patches of surface roughness are seen with a glass, particularly on the reverse. A middle die state with a minor die crack through AMER, which turns abruptly above the R to the rim.
