Difficult B-1 1800 Dollar, VF35 NGC1800 $1 VF35 NGC. B-1, BB-181, R.4. In 1950, Bolender stated, "My records over a period of 40 years show it [Bolender-1] to be extremely rare." In 1993, however, Q. David Bowers in his silver dollar Encyclopedia estimated between 90 to 160 survivors, with half of these in Good to Fine grades. At the Choice VF level, B-1 is a desirable variety. This bold example displays medium tan-gray and steel-blue colors on the obverse, and somewhat deeper charcoal-gray patina across the reverse. The obverse field has several inconspicuous pinscratches, and the upper reverse is slightly granular.
