Description

Attractive 1800 Bust Dollar, XF40 NGC

1800 $1 Wide Date, Low 8 XF40 NGC. B-10, BB-190. R-3. Die State III. This is the scarce "Very Wide Date, Low 8" variety, which is listed in the Guidebook as a separate 1800 Dollar type. The reverse die has a crack from the rim to the left side of the C in AMERICA to the leaf. There is a light die crack connecting the tops of the NITED of UNITED. The obverse is a nice medium gray with lighter gray on the highpoints. The reverse is darker gray and gold, with traces of luster around the devices. A planchet flaw (as struck) is seen through star 1 into the field. Overall, a nice example for the grade.(#6888) (Registry values: P1) (PCGS# 6888)
