1803 $1 Large 3 AU53 NGC. B-6, BB-255, R.2. The "Large 3"...
Deeply Toned Almost Uncirculated B-6 1803 Dollar1803 $1 Large 3 AU53 NGC. B-6, BB-255, R.2. The "Large 3" variety of the 1803 Dollar is plentiful, but enjoys strong demand from type collectors as well as the die variety collector. The variety can be identified by a thick top to the 3 in the date, with light double punching at the base of the 3 also visible. The stars on the right side are particularly well spaced. A bit softly struck in the centers, the peripheral details are well defined and the reverse is rotated about 30 degrees to the left off its normal axis, as often seen on this variety. Generous amounts of mint luster remain, especially on the reverse. Deep rose and blue toning covers each side with the reverse is several shades lighter than the obverse. There are no obvious abrasions on either side that could be listed as reliable pedigree identifiers.
