Elusive 1795 BD-5 Eagle, AU Details1795 $10 13 Leaves--Improperly Cleaned--NCS. AU Details. Breen-6830, Taraszka-5, BD-5, R.5. Five 1795 eagle varieties are known, four with 13 leaves on the reverse (BD-1, BD-2, BD-4, BD-5) and the one remaining variety (BD-3) with just nine leaves in the branch. John Dannreuther estimates a surviving population of only 35 to 45 examples of BD-5, the rarest of the four 13 leaves die marriages. Light yellow surfaces are a bit too bright, a result of cleaning. A few obverse and reverse marks are mostly concentrated along the right border on each side. The reverse has a heavy raised lump between OF and AMERICA that is a defect seen on all known examples BD-4 and BD-5, the two varieties sharing the same reverse die.(Registry values: P5) (NGC ID# 25ZT, PCGS# 8551)
