Borderline Uncirculated 1795 Small Eagle Ten-Dollar1795 AU 58 NGC. B. 2-A. A lovely semi-reflective example of this classic, first-year gold eagle, then and for the next 55 years the highest denomination coin struck by the United States for commerce. The strike is uniformly bold and only the lightest scuffing is seen in the fields. Adjustment marks are limited to a few relatively short lines at the center of the portrait, while post-minting distractions are well scattered and unobtrusive. One of the finer known B. 2-As in existence, with the bulk of high grade 1795 survivors originating from the the most common variety for the year, the B. 1-A. (NGC ID# 25ZT, PCGS# 8551)
